- Yay, Cyclones! We sent $303.97 to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through our participation in the Pennies for Patients campaign.
- Congratulations to the three 8th graders at Chester Middle School who earned a spot in the Region 3 Honor Band. William Counterman on baritone, Marcello Hill on clarinet, and Jasmine Moyd on clarinet will participate in the South Carolina Band Director’s Association Region 3 Honor Band Clinic in February at Nation Ford High School. Hooray!
- Students were recognized during a ceremony in the auditorium on January 23rd. Perfect Attendance for the second quarter was earned by 174 students. Thirty-one students earned straight A's and 119 students earned all A's and B's during the second quarter. Congratulations, Cyclones!
Over 200 new library books arrived in January. Before they were put on the shelves, students participated in a Book Pass activity in the media center during their ELA time. Students had 3 minutes to fill out their forms with the title, author, summary, and their interest rating in that particular book. They had time to work with four different books and listen to quick book talks on another 4 or 5 books. For some, these forms will serve as a prepared reading list. The papers are being kept on file in the media center so students can refer to them when they select their next books to read. Many students were surprised to find there were books that interested them, especially those who don't particularly like to read! They were so engrossed in learning about the books in their hands, they didn't even realize Mrs. Podmore was taking pictures too!

Student Council Presents
CMS Can Food Drive 2013
|Student Council Members believe that Chester Middle Students CAN make a difference in the community by collecting CANS of meat, seafood, vegetables, fruits, and whatever comes in a can for our Chester brothers and sisters in need. Thank you for helping to get food to our Chester families in need ... a true gesture of giving!
The mission of Chester Middle School, in partnership with parents, students and community, is to prepare students to reach their maximum potential by fostering a commitment to academic excellence and the development of individual strengths and talents in a nurturing environment where individual differences and the respect for the rights of others guide school and community behavior. The faculty and staff are committed to improving the quality of life for self and others.
Seasons' Greetings, to my CMS Family. It is hard to believe--we are already half-way into the second nine weeks, and the first semester is rapidly coming to an end. We are still excited about the opportunity to work with the children and families of the Chester Community. Please know that our students are our number one priority, and it is our goal to make sure that your child is successful. In order for this to happen, there must be a constant line of communication between the school and the home. All teachers provide extra help sessions, and we strongly encourage your child to attend as regularly as needed.
We also encourage parents to stay abreast of their child's grades through the Parent Portal feature of the PowerSchool webpage. If you have not already received your unique password and login, please come by the school so that we may assist you in this effort. We take pride in our responsiveness to your needs, and we hope that we will continue to work for the benefit of all children. Thank you for all you do for Chester Middle School. "Whatever It Takes. Every Child, Every Day. No Excuses!"

Parents...Want to keep up with your child's grades? It's very easy. Just sign-in to your account on Parent Portal!! Letters with information about setting up your personal account for your child were sent home at the beginning of the school year. Teachers are asked to update grades at least once a week, but many update them more often. You can keep up with your child's average grade in each class or learn of any missing work. Parent Portal can be accessed by clicking here. If you have any problems accessing Parent Portal or need information about obtaining your information, contact the school office.
