This week, students will start MAP testing. Your student will be going to the computer lab (at their assigned time) during their ELA and Math classes.

MAP, or the Measure of Academic Progress, is a computerized adaptive test which helps teachers, parents, and administrators improve learning for all students and make informed decisions to promote a child's academic growth.

From the Desk of the Principal

Welcome Back Chester Middle School Family!  We are extremely excited about the opportunity to begin the 2014-2015 school year.  We hope that you had a refreshing summer vacation and that you are prepared to dive into the new year, filled with excitement.  This year at CMS, we are ecstatic about becoming a PBIS school and the incorporation of "Houses" within our school.  We are confident that through these efforts, our students, faculty, and community will experience an increase in school pride and ultimately increase student achievement.  We have adopted a motto... "CMS, Let's Keep It R.E.A.L."  The acronym R.E.A.L. stands for R- Maintaining Respect, E-Striving for Excellence, A- Achieving Academically, and L- Exhibiting Leadership.

As always, we work diligently to keep the line of communications open with parents and our community.  We encourage parents to monitor their child's progress through communications (phone calls and emails) with your child's teachers and by checking your child's grades regularly in PowerSchool.  Please feel free to come by the school to sign-up for PowerSchool access, and we will be delighted to assist you in the registration process.  CMS belongs to our community, and it requires all stakeholders working together to provide the best for our students.  We look forward to working with you and your child this year.
